I made a bad call in jumping the gun, period, and I hold myself accountable for that.

I know you were trying to help, and you probably have tried to before. But, as I wrote before, I failed to verify and it bit me in the butt as it should have. I have no one to blame but myself.

That said, no hard feelings. And if you sent me a direct email, it would be a pleasant surprise to hear from you.

And Merry Christmas right back atcha!Ted Schnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06338975463102889798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4350172062816359483.post-25499128887452560522011-12-15T21:38:10.807-06:002011-12-15T21:38:10.807-06:00I hesitate to post again because I feel like I mad...I hesitate to post again because I feel like I made this confusing already. There was a 6th layoff in Aurora this past Monday. Already happened. Your post WAS right. The layoff was in composing, so not everyone may know about it. I'm glad someone's keeping track so I tried to give you the heads up. Didn't mean to cause confusion. Merry Christmas. Good luck on your interview!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4350172062816359483.post-51617611205450766822011-12-14T23:44:37.059-06:002011-12-14T23:44:37.059-06:00I was wrong in jumping the gun. I had prior verification in terms of knowing what was coming down the pike, but not the timing.

That's still no excuse. I erred. And quite frankly, I can't jump the gun in apologizing when I recognize I've messed up. That's true of my personal life and it's true of my professional one.

In terms of my feelings for Sun-Times Media, I miss working there, although not under the cloud that has hung over that company in recent years. More than that, I miss the people with whom I worked. If you are one, I no doubt miss you, too.Ted Schnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06338975463102889798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4350172062816359483.post-1545527714146118832011-12-14T23:31:15.509-06:002011-12-14T23:31:15.509-06:00You did jump the gun, you did get ahead of yoursel...You did jump the gun, you did get ahead of yourself and publish without verification. But you weren't wrong. The comment wasn't wrong. It doesn't mean everyone in the company knows what happened. Don't beat yourself up and don't feel sad for STM. You're jumping the gun apologizing to them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4350172062816359483.post-15936932960559317862011-12-14T11:54:45.930-06:002011-12-14T11:54:45.930-06:00I drive by the empty Naperville office all the tim...I drive by the empty Naperville office all the time. It's plenty big enough and the company still owns it, and it's 3 miles from their current office. But of course they aren't using it, which is a perfect example of the kind of decision that got that company where it is now.Chris Mageenoreply@blogger.com
